WNBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (7/9)

It’s a loaded slate in the WNBA tonight.

The matchups aren’t the most appealing. However, three of the five games have spreads at -2 or -1. So we’re going to get close games.

Still, there’s only one game between two teams with a winning record. But everyone loves a good upset. Will we get at least one in the WNBA today?

Here are a couple of best bets to consider for today’s slate of games.

Dallas Wings vs. Indiana Fever

The Dallas Wings are coming off an 80-78 win over the Las Vegas Aces at home. They’ve won three of their last five and now sit 9-9 on the season. They will face an Indiana Fever team on a six-game losing streak.

The Fever hasn’t played the Wings yet. But they’ve still averaged a higher field goal percentage than the Wings this season. That’s what makes this game tricky.

The Wings should have more success on the glass. They’re also the better defensive team. They just held Las Vegas to 78 points in their win.

Arike Ogunbowale has added 21.4 points per game. She’s also knocked down 87% of her free throws but has shot 38.7% from the field. Ogunbowale plays over 37 minutes a night and leads the team with 4.4 assists.

Meanwhile, Kelsey Mitchell of the Fever has led her team with 17 points per game. She’s shooting over 40% from the field this season. Mitchell and two other players are averaging double-figures. But after that, the roster has a major drop-off with production.

I’m taking Dallas -2.

Bet: Wings -2 (-110)

Atlanta Dream vs. Chicago Sky

The Atlanta Dream has destroyed the Chicago Sky in two games this season. The Dream added an 83-65 win over the Sky at home in May and recently knocked off the Sky 82-68 two days ago. Atlanta held Chicago to 36.6% from the field. The Sky hit only 29.2% from three and were out-rebounded by 11.

The turnovers will likely be high for both teams. However, the Dream will take fewer threes and more shots around the rim. Chicago can win the glass. They did it in the first meeting. But they’ve been shooting terribly against the Dream throughout the season.

Atlanta has won four straight games. They’re now back over .500. The Sky had won three straight before losing to Atlanta.

But despite losing by double-figures in multiple games, the Sky are favorites at home tonight.

I’m not buying it. Atlanta’s Allisha Gray has added 18.5 points per game while shooting over 50% from the field. The Dream gets much better looks from the field and should have more success scoring the basketball over the Sky.

Bet: Dream+1.5 (-110)
