Indiana Fever (+210) at Connecticut Sun (-6) | O/U 168.5 (-110/-110)

November 25, 2020. That was the last time that Caitlin Clark played her FIRST meaningful game in a then-new Iowa Hawkeyes jersey. So much has changed in both the real world and the world of women’s sports since then and Caitlin Clark continues to be at the center of a lot of it. That night, there was not a soul in the stands as we were in the throughs of COVID-Era sports in front of ghosts and/or virtual crowds. That will not be the case for this debut as the season opener will be broadcast on ESPN2 and available for streaming on Disney+, further evidence of the Caitlin Clark Effect and the unprecedented exposure of women’s athletics, especially women’s basketball.

Clark hit the ground running this preseason and although she joins a Fever squad that selected her #1 overall with their second straight #1 overall pick, they are not a bottom-feeder in terms of talent. She teams up with last year’s top pick, Aliyah Boston, to create a generational inside-out tandem. Is it enough to pick up the road victory against the top team last year not named the Aces or Liberty? That remains to be seen although for what it’s worth she won her first game at Iowa,  96-81 against Northern Iowa, and finished with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

The Caitlin Clark Effect has shown up in this game’s total which has risen from an open 167.5 mark to the current number of 168.5. Neither of these teams averaged this number with the Fever averaging game totals of 166.1 last season and the Sun averaging 161.7. The Sun and their opponents went over the opening number of 167.5 just 18 times in 45 games (40%) last season and that percentage only goes down as they continue to creep towards 170 so be sure to shop around as this number remains fluid.

Additionally, this game’s 168.5 number is 4-5 points higher than two of the other three games. The only other game is the defending champion Aces and Mercury, both of whom are better teams, and their total is also at 168.5 after opening at 172.5.

Take advantage of this number as it continues to inflate and take the Under.

WNBA Pick: Under 168.5 Total Points (-110)

BONUS DK No Sweat Bet Pick: Fever Moneyline (+210)
