New York Liberty at Indiana Fever

The Liberty (16-3) and the Fever (7-11) tangle at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, with the tip set for 1 p.m. on CBS. It’s the fourth meeting of the season between these two sides, and it has been a lopsided series to date. New York has not only won all three meetings, but the Liberty have been victorious by at least 11 points, with an average margin of victory of 27.7 points per game (PPG).

This will be the second meeting in Indy. New York won 102-66 on May 16 as an 8.5-point favorite in the only previous meeting at Gainbridge, with the Under (170) just holding on. The Liberty shot 46.2% (36-of-78) from the field while hitting 29.6% (8-of-27) from behind the 3-point line. The Lib were an impressive 95.7% (22-of-23) from the free throw line, too, while posting a 40:26 rebounding margin, and 22:13 assist advantage. Indiana turned it over 13 times, while New York had 10 miscues.

Breanna Stewart led the way with 31 points on 12-of-21 shooting while adding 10 rebounds. Jonquel Jones also had a double-double, posting 14 points with 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. Jones, Stewart, and Betnijah Laney-Hamilton were each 6-of-6 from the charity stripe, too. Stewart has 22 or more points in four of the past seven games, and she is averaging 22.7 PPG in three meetings with the Fever this season while averaging 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.3 steals per game.

Caitlin Clark managed just nine points on 2-of-8 shooting, and 1-of-7 from behind the 3-point line, while adding seven boards and six dimes. In the most recent Commissioner’s Cup game in New York on June 2, Clark was held to a season-low three points on 1-of-10 shooting, and she is averaging just 11.3 PPG in three meetings with the Liberty. Go low on Clark’s point total.

The Liberty have won five in a row while cashing in two of the past three games. However, New York is just 2-5 ATS in the past six games. The Under has cashed in the past two games, too.

For the Fever, they’ve dropped three of the past four outings, while going 1-2 ATS in the past three games. The Under has cashed in three in a row for Indiana, too. As a result, go with the Liberty to cover the number, as they’ve won all three previous meetings by 11 or more points, and go low based on the recent trends.

Washington Mystics at Minnesota Lynx

In the evening game, the Mystics (5-15) travel to the Twin Cities to meet the Lynx (15-6), in the first meeting of the regular season between these two squads.

Washington opened the season with 12 consecutive losses, but it is a respectable 5-3 SU in the past eight games since June 11, while going a very impressive 9-2 against the spread (ATS) in the previous 11 contests. As a single-digit underdog, the Mystics have covered five of the past six games since June 7.

Minnesota has dropped back-to-back games for the first time this season, but those setbacks have come against Eastern Conference powers Connecticut and New York. The Lynx lost to the Sun 78-73 as a 3.5-point favorite last time out at Target Center on July 4. The Lynx have cashed low on the total in three in a row, five of the past six outings, and nine of the previous 12 contests.

For Washington, it is coming off a 98-77 loss at Las Vegas, as the Mystics failed to cover as 16-point underdogs. That snapped a 5-0 ATS run for the Mystics. The Over has a 6-2 edge in the past eight games for Washington, too.

These teams met three times last season, with Minnesota holding a 2-1 SU/ATS edge. The Lynx won the single meeting in Minneapolis, winning 97-92 as a 3.5-point favorite as the Over (160) cashed.

As far as the player props are concerned, they weren’t available at the time of writing, so simply roll with a home team and total points parlay.
